Mary R. Hersh
JEFFERSON – Mary R. (Shaffer) Hersh, 85, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. She was the wife of Stewart L. Hersh, who died December 26, 1986.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Jacob's (Stone) Union Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, with her pastor, the Rev. Paula L. Murray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Hersh was born December 16, 1917, in Codorus Township. She was a daughter of the late Max and Elda (Brenneman) Shaffer.
She retired in 1979 from Hanover Shoe Co. after 12 years of service.
Mrs. Hersh was a member of St. Jacob's (Stone) Lutheran congregation, Jefferson Chapter No. 3699 AARP and the Ladies Auxiliary of Jefferson Volunteer Fire Co.
Mrs. Hersh leaves five sons, Myrl L. Hersh and Michael A. Hersh, both of Spring Grove; Charles E. Hersh and William H. Hersh, both of York, and John L. Hersh of Collegeville, Montgomery County; two daughters, Nancy J. Thoman of York, and Betty L. Snyder of Spring Grove; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Werner of Hanover.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Raymond Shaffer.
