Luther Phillip Smith, age 93, passed away on February 24, 2022. He was born in Helena, GA to the late Luther Preston Smith and Daisy Lucile Rodgers. He graduated from Lanier High School for Boys in Macon, GA, where he was Vice-President of the Business Club and ROTC Sergeant. Immediately after High School graduation, he joined the Navy to serve in World War II. Phillip retired from National Linen Service in Atlanta, GA after 47 years of outstanding service. He was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, GA for 48 years, volunteering with the Royal Ambassadors and the Christian Activity Center. He lived and raised his family in Marietta, GA for 50 years, where he enjoyed church, camping, and his family. He was a dedicated father, always teaching by example and participating in his children's activities.
Phillip was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Zona Dawn Holliman; siblings, Winnie Ruth Powell, Quida Andel, Celeste Dorough, and Lena (Lanez) Holley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
The family would like to thank Oaks at Lake Wildwood Assisted Living, Your Home Senior Care, and Pine Pointe Hospice facility for the special care given during this time.
There will be a small graveside service for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga.
