Ira was the son of Loammi Casterline & Charlotte Fairchild Casterline. He married Malinda Saxon.
An autobiography " written in 1885 by IRA CASTERLINE, according to Records and My Recollection. I was Born in the year of our Lord, 1805, July the 29th in the State of New Jersey, Sussex, Vernon Township. My Father's name is Loammie Casterline. My Mother's Maden name was Charlotte Fairchild. Father Enlisted in the War of the Revolution, at the age of 18, under Washington. It being the year of the hard Winter. When Washington's Army Wintered in Morristown New Jersey.
Grandfather Phineas Fairchild, lived in Morristown and General Washington and Wife, staid at Grandfather Fairchilds that winter. Mother was a girl and lived at home and helpt cook for General Washington and Lady. Whilst Father Drove a six Horse team and hauled Wood for the armey. Thare is Whare Father and Mother Became acquainted. And was Married about the close of the war. Father drew a pension whilst he Lived.
