CELEBRATION OF GOLDEN WEDDING
MR. AND MRS. JAMES CASTERLINE AND CHILDREN HAVE A REUNION
Four Generations of the Casterline Family are Represented at the Celebration
Mr. and Mrs. James Casterline celebrated their golden wedding Friday at their home, 622 north Walnut street. For the first time since April 1885, all the children were assembled under the parental roof to eat dinner. They are Bert and Clement L. Casterline and Mrs. Alma Huggins, of this city; Mrs. Dora Reeves, of Warsaw, and Mrs. Bertha Miller, of Roll. Besides these there were present John Miller, son-in-law, and two children, Mrs. Huggins's daughter, Orilla, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Casterline, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Jones and son, Paul, and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Miles.
Four generations were represented at the gathering – five children, twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There was a big dinner without which no golden wedding celebration would be complete, and all the guests enjoyed the hospitality of that couple who have journeyed together through fifty years of life.
Mr. and Mrs. Casterline were married at Lake Geneva Wisconsin fifty years ago. Mr. Casterline's father came here from Steuben county, N.Y., and bought the farm now occupied by Bert Casterline in 1840. The farm has remained in the Casterline family ever since. Mr. Casterline at the time was four years old. In 1856 the family moved to Illinois. After living there two or three years they moved to Wisconsin, where Mr. Casterline met the woman who has been his faithful wife for fifty years.
In 1860 the Casterlines moved back to their farm in this county and on that farm all but the oldest of the five children were born. In 1888 Mr. and Mrs. Casterline moved to Hartford City and have lived there ever since.
