Lansdale, Alice V. Kalamazoo, Michigan On December 9, 2021, Alice Virginia (Gatewood) Lansdale, 88 went peacefully to rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Brookdale Assisted Living Center, where she had resided for the past five months.

Alice was born December 13, 1932, in Bragg City, Missouri to parents James Edward and Stella Irene (Ledbetter) Gatewood. When she was 6 years old, her family moved to Northeast Arkansas where she attended a one room schoolhouse until she graduated 8th grade. She yearned to continue her education, but this wasn't to be at this time. She helped care for her younger siblings and picked cotton, cut wood, and did all she could to help support her family. She frequently stated that while her family didn't have much, they had each other and a lot of love.

Alice eventually moved to Michigan where she met and later married Louie Edward Lansdale on August 27, 1952. She was a loving wife, mother, and care giver for her ailing husband for 5 years before his death on 5/16/2009. Alice and Louie were loving parents to their children.

In the late 1960s she attended night school several years and graduated in. 1972. She then attended KVCC where she wrote articles for the KVCC school paper. She wrote many "Letters to the Editor" to the Kalamazoo Gazette which were published. For 16 years, she was a displayer for Home Interiors and Gifts.

Alice was baptized as an adult and was a member of Bethany Reformed Church for the past few years. She enjoyed writing stories, designing patterns for quilts she would make, sewing, listening to music, sketching, helping others and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: Alice Goodale, Peggy (Timothy) Miller, John (Brenda) Lansdale, George (Tasha) Lansdale, and Rick (Fran) Lansdale, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sister: Norma Counce, Robert (Delois) Gatewood, Clark (Geraldine) Gatewood and Jimmy (Ginger) Gatewood.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Sandra Kay Lansdale and Kathy Jane (Lansdale) Cairo, son-in-law, Franklin Goodale, brothers and sisters: Pauline Neumann, Ella Hyde, James Gatewood, Joann Petro, Linda Stayton and Jesse Gatewood.
