After Jane's husband, Burrell, died in 1888, she was left with no income to live on, so she applied for a Civil War Widow's pension, based on Burrell's service. On the 1900 Missouri census for Cedar County, Jane is shown as having 14 children with 13 alive. Her youngest daughter, Jane Hudgins, is widowed and with her son Charles, is living with her.
Jane died in 1902 without a will and her son, Daniel, administered the estate and her affairs.
