Burrell D. McFall was born to James and Patience Downs McFall in Lawrence Co., Tennessee. By 1830 James had moved his family to Morgan Co., Illinois, where in 1847 Burrell married Jane Brown. By 1860, Burrell and Jane have nine children, and are living next to his parents and his brother, Daniel.
Along with his brother Daniel, Burrell served the Union during the Civil War. He enlisted March 7, 1865 in Co E, 58th ILL INF at Jacksonville, Illinois. He was mustered out at Springfield, Illinois on March 23, 1866.
After the war, Burrell moved his family west to Cedar Co., Missouri and he is shown on the 1870 Cedar Co. census with nine children. At least three of their older children, Hannah, Amanda and James, did not move to Missouri with them. By 1870, Burrell's brother, Daniel, had also moved his family to Missouri, settling in the neighboring Dade County.
Sometime between 1870 and 1880 Burrell moved his family back to Morgan Co., Illinois where they are shown on the 1880 Illinois census. He did not stay in Illinois very long since he died in Cedar Co., Missouri in 1888 and was buried in the Anna Edna Cemetery, Jerico Springs, Missouri.
