Mrs. Kathryn H. Grover, 60, route one, died at 10:45 am Sunday at Sartori Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered at 4 pm Saturday.
Born the daughter of Fred and Helen Bandfield Henry on the home farm in Mt. Vernon township, she spent most of her life around Cedar Falls, except for 12 years in Minnesota and Montana.
She Married to Louis Phelps, Oct. 7, 1903 in Waterloo. He died in 1925, eight children were born to the couple including Clifford A., Waterloo; Verle W., Waterloo; Mrs. Vera Mulkins, Mrs. Betty Jones, Mrs. Carl Hundley, all of Route one; Mrs. Cleo Johnson, Route two; Mrs. Maye Macheak, San Pedro, California and Wayne H., Navy Air Corps, Kodiak, Alaska.
On March 26, 1928 She married Vernon E. Grover, Independence. They had two children George H. and Judith at home. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, three brothers, Fred Henry and Paul Henry, Waterloo, and Al Henry, Mt. Vernon township and one sister Mrs. Isabell Albright, Cedar Falls.
Mrs. Grover was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Word has been received through Mrs. Harry Merrill, home services chairman of the Red Cross Chapter, that the Navy would grant Wayne Phelps, OAMZ-C a leave. Stationed regularly at Ault Field, at the Naval Air Station in Whidby Island, Washington, he is presently on duty in Kodiak. His arrival depends upon how soon he can be flown out of Kodiak.
