Obituary:
Jerry Watters, 57, of Rosebush, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Mackinac County, Michigan. He was born on February 26, 1964, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, son of the late Howard O. "Ollie" and Sue Ann (Cameron) Watters. Jerry was the sixth of 12 children. He was welcomed into the home by his older siblings, Holly, Kim, Leslie, Kelly, Jody, and James and he, himself, would be joined by younger siblings, Eric, Daniel, Mark, Melinda, and Sondra. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1982 and in 1983 began a career at Central Asphalt, a job that spanned nearly 39 years. On August 14, 1987, Jerry married the love of his life, Kristin Minics in a ceremony at Sacred Heart Church. They eventually moved to the Rosebush area where they made enough memories for a lifetime. With abundant land, Jerry spent a lot of his free time on his ranger, riding through the woods with his beloved canines. His tractor was not only a useful machine for planting his "free pumpkins" but provided a wonderful opportunity to spend precious time with his first-born grandchild, Mila. Jerry enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, cutting wood, and just taking in all that nature had to offer. The time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren on the boat at Littlefield Lake or the countless memories he made with his parents and siblings at School Section Lake were immeasurable. Jerry's family describes him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a wonderful host, fantastic with the BBQ, great at his job, loyal to his employer, a jack of all trades, and a man who took immense pride in his work. When you became Jerry's friend, you were his friend for life. His smile and warm personality are sure to be missed by all who knew him. Jerry leaves behind his wife, Kristin; three children, Tyler Watters (Courtney Shepler), Nick Watters, and Sophia Watters (Trevor Haynak); two grandchildren, Mila and Oakley and two more grandchildren on the way; siblings, Kim (Andy) McIntosh and Leslie Watters, both of Mt. Pleasant, Kelly Watters-Winters of Fountain, Jody (Dawn Mack) Watters of Lakewood, CO, James (Nannette) Watters of Mt. Pleasant, Eric Watters of San Diego, CA, and Danny (Kara) Watters, Mark Watters and Mindy (Mark) Arends, all of Mt. Pleasant; and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Sue Watters; and sisters, Holly Nelson and Sondra Watters-Thering. The family will receive friends at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home on Thursday, February 3, from 2:00 – 7:30 p.m. A Vigil Service and time for sharing will begin at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass for Jerry will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loren Kalinowski as celebrant. Friends may all visit with the family at the church one hour prior to Mass. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon at the funeral home. Jerry will be laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery near Rosebush. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
