Judy Janice Church Starr, 82 of Seymour, TX passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Seymour.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 3:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Seymour, TX. Dr. David Warren, her devoted pastor, will be officiating under the direction of Archer Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed on the First Baptist Church of Seymour Texas Facebook page.
Judy was born March 21, 1939 in Wichita Falls, TX to Jessie James Church and Fannie Mae Snyder. She was a 1957 graduate of Seymour High School and attended the University of Dallas. Judy married John Harvey Starr on July 25, 1987 in Durant, Oklahoma.
First and foremost, Judy was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. Judy worked as an accountant most of her life and was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour. She was a member and served as treasurer of the Seymour Chamber of Commerce, and served as treasurer on the Board of the International Egg Art Guild (IEAG) and was an Egg Masters Judge for many years. Judy spent the last 30 years as a devoted "egger" and was the recipient of several awards, including the rare and exceptional Kit Stansbury Award. This award has only recognized a total of 28 artists for their outstanding dedication, time, and talent to educate and encourage others in the art of eggery. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, John Starr; parents, Jessie and Mae Church; and 2 sisters, Patsy Lassiter and Alma Hicks.
Judy was the "glue" that held her family together and she worked tirelessly to keep everyone close with annual family reunions, Christmas parties, and other events. She was a second mom to many. If you knew Judy, after her family and friends, she loved dogs. When her much loved yorkie, Sugar, passed away, she was left with a void. Then, Bobo came into her life and it was love at first sight. Bobo was more than she could have hoped for, bringing surpassing joy and companionship to the last days of Judy's life.
Judy was an amazing, caring, kind, wonderful, and talented woman. She was the sweetest, warmest soul and gave the best hugs. Our lives won't be the same without her, and the hole she left in our hearts will be felt forever. Judy's passing was unexpected to everyone. We weren't ready to say goodbye, believing we had at least a decade more with her.
Judy is survived by: her 3 sons, Charles and Tammy Davis of Lubbock, Jimmy Davis of Orange Park, FL and Chris and Stephanie Davis of Yukon, OK; 3 sisters, Margie Adams of Seymour, Doris Cooper of Dallas, and Dixie Peacock of Seymour; 4 grandchildren, Jaclynne, Meredith, Ryan and Aaron, and 1 great grandchild, Avery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 420 N. Washington, Seymour, Texas 76380.
