Last rites for Tom C. Holmes were held from the Mars Hill Methodist Church Sunday September 27 with Rev. W. M. Hull, Rev. J. E. McGhee and Dr. W. Stevens officiating.
Mr. Holmes died September 26 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Interment was in the church cemetery under the direction of Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Holmes was born in Montgomery County, July 29, 1884 and married the former Miss Jessie Mae Gillon, August 18, 1930. He was a member of the Mars Hill Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of Duck Hill; three daughters, Mrs. Nona Woods, Grenada, Mrs. Marie Rogers, Gretna, Louisiana, Mrs. Nancy Kirk of Duck Hill; four sons, James Holmes, Duck Hill, Jack Holmes, Kilmichael, Gillon Holmes and Charles Holmes both of Grenada; one sister, Mrs. Izora Pyron of Indianola and one brother, Lin Holmes also of Indianola; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Sony Nail, James Bowen, George Branscome, Dorsey Britt, J. W. Kirk and Ralph Moore.
