Obituary for Richard Allen McKinney, Sr.
Richard Allen McKinney, Sr., 76, of Gerrardstown passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his home.
Born August 18, 1945 in Martinsburg he was the son of the late Leonard McKinney and Elsie May Parkinson McKinney.
He was an avid hunter. In the last two months of his life, he praised the Lord and thanked his blessings for being so good to he and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Butts McKinney; four sons, Brian McKinney and wife, Angela, Richard McKinney, Jr. and wife, Cindy, Jeffery McKinney and wife, Tiffany, and Matthew McKinney and wife, Melissa; one daughter, Brigette LeMaster and husband, Chris; 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Virginia Hutzler, Wanda Morrison, Mary Parsons and Linda Parsons.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Stephen McKinney; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Rose McKinney; three brothers, Jack McKinney, Dave McKinney and Leonard "Bud" McKinney; and one sister Ruby Parsons.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, 7937 Apple Harvest Dr., Gerrardstown, WV 25420, with Rev. Nathan Travis and Pastor Hersel Bennett officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Missions of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, 7937 Apple Harvest Dr., Gerrardstown, WV 25420.
Interment will be in Central Chapel Cemetery.
