Dorothy "Dottie" Elizabeth McKinney of Gerrardstown went to be with the Lord on Sunday September 17, 2023.
Born on November 11, 1947 in Martinsburg, WV she was the daughter of the late James William Butts Jr. and Betty Lee Butts.
She was a long term and faithful member of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God. She was a government contractor for 20 plus years and retired in 2021.
Dottie is survived by her five children Brian McKinney and wife Angela, Richard (Dicky) McKinney Jr. and wife Cindy, Brigette Lemaster and husband Chris, Jeffery McKinney and wife Tiffany, Matthew McKinney, and wife Melissa. She was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren. Nine siblings Mary Hess and husband Jerry, Carolyn Jones, and husband Jimmy, Janet Butts, James Butts III and wife Pam, Brenda Beach and husband Tim, Faith Helmick and husband John, Hope Butts and fiancé Danny, Charity Butts and fiancé Chester and Jonathon Butts. And many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Richard Allen McKinney, one grandson, Matthew Stephen McKinney; one great-granddaughter, Autumn Rose McKinney.
Dottie was a Godly woman who followed the Lord with a servant's heart and was very active in the church. On many occasions you could hear her humming hymns and praising the Lord for the many blessings he bestowed upon her and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend whose door was always open to everyone and loved spending countless hours with her family. She loved fishing, traveling, spending time at the beach, playing cards and working in her beautiful flower beds. She will be greatly missed but we know she is at peace with our heavenly father.
Family will receive family and friends on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00am with visitation prior from 10:00-11:00am at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God, 7937 Apple Harvest Dr., Gerrardstown, WV 25420, with Pastor Hersel Bennett and Sister Mary Howard officiating.
Interment will be in Central Chapel Cemetery.
