Elijah Clubb Baker son of Nathan Baker and Jane Clubb Baker was named after his mother's father Elijah Clubb. He was either born in Scott County, Indiana where his parents were in 1820 or in Henry County, Kentucky to where his parents had returned. Grandfather Elijah Clubb in the 1830s was giving each of his children a farm in Henry County. Parents Jane Clubb Baker and Nathan were deeded 165 acres in 1831. When they sold the property, sons Hugh M Baker and Elijah C Baker gave oath in 1840 before the Circuit Court in Shelbyville that Jane Baker and Nathan Baker of Shelby County, Missouri were the persons executing the deed. Hugh M Baker and Elijah Clubb Baker were brothers. Jane and Nathan had gone to Shelby County because Nathan's father, Moses Baker was dying and Nathan was included in the will. The parents returned to Henry County before the 1850 Census.

Elijah married Barbara Johnson Feb 24, 1847 in Marion Co, Mo. He only had 1 child, Elijah Clubb Baker Jr, born in 1849. That same year Elijah passed. In 1850 Barbara and baby Elijah Baker are found in Marion Co, Mo where she had moved at age 18 to be with her Elijah Johnson family. Her husband Elijah Baker who had passed is not in the home. It is unknown where he is buried.
