Jonathan Eoff, born in Bellefonte, Boone County Arkansas, was the son of George Eoff and Sarah Frances Ogle, the former a native of Tennessee and the latter of Missouri. Jonathan was raised on farms in Boone County, Arkansas and Hill County, Texas. He was brother to Louraine "Lou" (Eoff) Aufill, Charles H Eoff, Lurissa (Eoff) Carlton, Aaron Eoff, John Eoff, Throna Eoff, Robert Eoff and Nora (Eoff) Kuykendall.

Jonathan married Panola Beatrice Bishop March 14, 1886 in Hill County, Texas. Their children were Allie Beatrice (Eoff) Myers, Cora Bell (Eoff) Fondy, Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Eoff, Verma (Eoff) Blakely, Velma Anne (Eoff) Daniels, Lila (Eoff) Kimble, Frederick Horace "Fred" Eoff, Luther Henry "Jack" Eoff, Lucille Eoff, Elza Lee Eoff , Elsie (Eoff) Rippetoe and J Mack Eoff, raised in Hill, Scurry and Fisher counties, Texas. Among these children were two sets of twins. Jonathan was a lifetime farmer.
