Lorraine L. (Nee Michels) Check, age 96, passed away at Banner Desert Medical Center, Mesa, Arizona, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Lorraine was born December 24, 1924 in Calio, North Dakota to the late Frank and Margaret Michels. She went to Tacoma, Washington in 1944 where she met and married Mathew N. Check on February 13, 1945. In January 1946 they settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After Mathew died on March 15, 1993 she moved to Mesa, Arizona.

In Tacoma, Washington she worked at Mt. Rainier Ordnance Depot. After the move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin she worked as a waitress at the Yankee Doodle Restaurant, then at Erie Manufacturing, and later as a cashier at Kohl's Food Store. She retired from Kohl's in 1981. In Mesa, she enjoyed attending jam sessions with her two sisters. They sang songs, and when they weren't singing, they danced.

Survivors include three sons: Rodney Check, Donald (Mary Jo) Check, and Melvin (LuAnn) Check; three grandchildren: Carrie Czech, Dale Check, and Stacy (Will) Pope; one sister: Genevieve Meyer; other nieces and nephews; and special friend, Steve Ford.

Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
