Frank Michels died Saturday, September 14, 1963, in a Devils Lake hospital following a short illness. The funeral was held at 10 Wednesday in St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was 76 years old.
Rosary was said Tuesday at 8 in the chapel of the Dix Funeral Home in Cando.
Rev. Vladas Aleksonis officiated. Pallbearers were Harry Gau and Aloys, Norbert, Elmer, Roman and Leonard Michels. Burial was held in Trier Cemetery, north of Calio.
Frank Michels was born May 30, 1887, in Spring Hill, Minnesota. He came to North Dakota and married Margaret Gau, November 12, 1912. The couple farmed near Calio, then retired and moved into Calio about 20 years ago. Margaret Michels died in August 1962 and Frank moved to Devils Lake where he lived with a daughter.
Survivors are four sons, Alvin of Calio, Matt of Anaconda, Montana, Leo of Deer Lodge, Montana, and Omer of Cut Bank, Montana; five daughters, Mrs. Philip (Edvina) Weisz and Clara Michels, both of Devils Lake, Mrs. George (Alma) Berg of Egeland, Mrs. Matt (Lorraine) Check of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Ralph (Genevieve) Myers of Anaconda; and one sister, Mrs. Simon (Maggie) Mittleholtz of Munich.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dora, and by all his brothers and most of his sisters.
