Saint John Morning Telegraph, Tue 16 Jul 1867: "Drowned yesterday, while bathing in the Salmon River, opposite the FOSHAY farm, Robert AITON s/o Andrew AITON, St. John, N.B. who was living with his uncle at Salt Springs (Kings Co.) He had come over to his uncle's and proceeded in company with Wm CRIPPS and two others to the river for the purpose of bathing, when both AITON and CRIPPS were drowned. There is no record of Robert being buried at Fernhill. Her inscription is apparently a cenotaph.
