Christened 15 Mar 1842 Galston, Ayrshire.

Immigrated to NB with family 1851-1856.

NB Courier, Sat 17 Oct 1863: "m. 14th inst., by Rev. George Brown, Samuel H. PARKER, Petersville, Nerepis / Miss Helen AITON, St. John." - Source: Daniel F Johnson's New Brunswick Newspaper Vital Statistics. "Parker" is incorrect. The marriage bond records give the groom's last name correctly as Parks. This was Samuel's 2nd marriage, his first wife Hannah Vallis Parks having died 13 Feb 1862 (Saint John Weekly Chronicle, Fri 17 Nov 1854; NB Courier, Sat 15 Feb 1862).

Saint John Daily Morning News, Wed 18 Jan 1871:"d. Monday 16th inst. Helen PARKS w/o Samuel H. PARKS, age 29. Funeral Thursday 10 a.m. from her residence Welsford (Queens Co.)" - Source: Daniel F Johnson's New Brunswick Newspaper Vital Statistics.

There is no record of Helen being buried at Fernhill. Her inscription is apparently a cenotaph.

Samuel died two years later, 24 Apr 1873 Welsford (Saint John Daily Telegraph, Fri 25 Apr 1873). The eight children from his two marriages appear to have been dispersed after his death.
