Roger loved the lakes and rivers, fishing and hunting for ginseng.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: an infant brother and sister, Fred and Elizabeth Byrd, Arvil Lee and Mary Helen Byrd, Hazel and George Daugherty, Opal Byrd, James West, Lonzo and Nora Byrd; brothers-in-law: Bob Sexton and Edd Foster; nephews: Kent West and Stevie Byrd; niece: Euangeline West; grandparents: Oliver and Marnevia Byrd, and John and Deliah Hutson.
He is survived by his daughter: Patsy Byrd Hicks, and Patsy's sisters: Teresa Freytag, and Jewell Woodward; grandchildren: Britten, Shannon, and Shyann Lewallen; brother: Frank Byrd of Apopka, FL; sisters: Lola Sexton, Neal and Herb of Robbins, TN, and Hattie Foster of Oneida, TN; two very special nieces that were his caregivers, Sharon and Angie Byrd, who cared for him the past years. He loved them much, and all others; special nephew and wife: Arnold and Diana Byrd, all of Savannah, TN, who helped with trips to his doctor appointments; others: Darren and Christina Sexton; nephews: Dwayne Sexton, Regina Sexton, Justin, Maleeke, Malachi Lowe, Bridget Headrick and Eddie Mason, Pauletta, Steve, Braden L. Jeffers, Rosetta, Zack Trice and Dustin Lewallen, Geraldine Walker, Laraine Raines, Teresa and Jerry Jeffers; and other family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the Byrd family on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Frank Smithers officiating. Music will be provided by Headrick Mason.
Committal service will follow in the Black Creek Cross Roads Cemetery in Robbins, TN.
