Lonzo Byrd, 86 years old, of Oliver Springs, passed away Dec. 7, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucenda Byrd; one daughter, Rosa Lee Leinart; three sons, Charles Byrd, and twin sons, Elmer and Delmer Byrd. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Byrd of Mossy Grove; two daughters, Lou Harness and husband MacAuther of Oliver Springs, and Pearl Dison of Oliver Springs; two sisters, Lola Sexton and Hattie Byrd of Scott County; two brothers, Frank Byrd and Roger Byrd, both of Florida; and by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many friends. Mr. Byrd was a member of Laurel Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Briceville. He enjoyed digging ginseng. His family will receive friends at Oliver Springs Mortuary on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, from 6 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at 7 p.m. at Oliver Springs Mortuary with the Rev. David Barkley officiating. Burial will be Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Circle Cemetery in Briceville. Oliver Springs Mortuary is in charge of all arrangements.
