GLADSTONE, Mich. — Carolyn Hurd Young, 77, of Gladstone, Mich., died following a long illness. She was born in Elwood to Max and Ethel (Knotts) Hurd.
She was a graduate of Anderson High School. She worked at American Playground and transferred with the company to Escanaba, Mich. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by three children, Gregory, Linda Ryzinski and Kathy Strasler; sisters, Irene Deeley of Anderson, Ruby Miller and Jeannette Reddin of Anderson; a brother, Max Hurd; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services and cremation will take place later this week in Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
