Caroline B. Howard, 87, of Gulliver, Michigan died November 24, 2013 at the Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique.

She was born February 4, 1926 in Gulliver, Michigan the daughter of Clayton and Irene (McCabe) Wood. She attended schools in Gulliver and Manistique and was a graduate of Manistique High School with the Class of 1944.

On June 19, 1946 the former Caroline B. Wood married Douglas Howard in Manistique, where they made their home. They later moved to Gulliver and raised their family there. Doug preceded her in death on August 7, 1993.

Caroline was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Manistique, the Bethel Baptist Mission Circle, the Manistique Senior Citizens, the Manistique Senior Swingers Band, and the D.A.V. National Auxiliary. She was also a member of Frank Sweeney's band and thoroughly enjoyed playing, singing and yodeling at the medical care facility and at the Heritage House. She was a homemaker who loved giving hugs. She also loved to play Yahtzee, visit with her friends at Hardee's, go out to eat, and family gatherings.

Caroline is survived by her sons, Leroy (Carol) Howard of Saginaw, MI, Randolph (Jody) Howard of Marquette, MI and Ricky (Tinsey) Howard of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Betty Bosanic of Lansing, Patricia (Gene) Moore of Ft. Madison, IA and Marcella "Marcey" (Andrew) Norton of Manistique; 24 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Kristin Smith; her son-in-law, John Bosanic; and her brothers, Clayton R. Wood, Russell W. Wood and Douglas A. Wood.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Joseph Crowder officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
