DAVID ANDERSON
David Anderson was born at Hyrum, Utah on May 21, 1883.
He was the son of Andrew Anderson and Marie Jensen. He was one of six children. One sister (Ina) and one brother (Pete) preceded him in death.
His early life was spent in Hyrum working at a sawmill owned and operated by his father. While trying to make a bonfire using kerosene with a group of boys he was severely burned on the legs. This injury bothered him off and on the rest of his life.
In 1904 he came to Star Valley with his brother Pete. They homesteaded in Willow Creek. He spent his extra time from the farm in herding sheep, feeding cattle and other employment he could secure.
In 1905 he returned to his home in Utah where he met and married Alice Crawshaw in the Logan Temple June 6, 1906. They left immediately after the marriage to make their home in Star Valley.
He spent much of his time hauling freight between here and Montpelier with other freighters. This was done with wagons making it necessary for him to spend quite a few nights away from home. In 1929 two sons Louis and Wesley passed away making that year a very difficult year for him.
In 1942 he moved to Ogden, where he worked during the war. While living here his third son Raymond was killed in a farm accident in Nevada.
He then sold his ranch in Grover and bought a home in Afton where he lived until his death, of a heart attack at the star Valley Hospital April 24.
He was very honest in meeting his church obligations and fulfilling to the best of his ability the calls that came to him thru the Priesthood.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 27 in the Grover Ward Chapel with The Afton Second Ward Bishopric in charge.
