BABE FATALLY HURT IN FALL FROM PORCH:

Herman Ayres, Thirteen Months Old, Dies Few Hours After Fall at S. Main Street Home.

Fatally injured Saturday afternoon at 2:45 in a fall from a third-floor porch at his home, Herman Ayres, the 13-month-old son of Mrs. Nellie Waters 147 South Main St, died Saturday night at 10:10 at Nathan Littauer Hospital from a fracture of the skull.

The boy was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated by Dr. H.C. Hageman. He received a fracture of the skull and died at 10:10 Saturday evening in the Nathan Littauer Hospital.
The case was turned over to Dr. Robert Killithorpe, coroner, who conducted an investigation. Following an examination, he gave a verdict of accidental death.
The youngster was playing about the porch of his home Saturday afternoon. It is believed he climbed upon the railing, lost his balance and was plunged to the ground below. Little hope was held out for him when admitted to the hospital.
Herman Ayres was born in Gloversville on 26 July 1937.
Besides his mother, the survivors are his father, Howard Ayers of Gloversville; one sister Lillian, and two brothers, Howard and Harry( I think it is supposed to be Henry) Ayers and his grandparents, Charles Waters of Bennington, Vermont and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ayers of Johnstown.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 at the Kennedy Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street. Vernon Spurr, rural Sunday School superintendent, officiated. Burial was made in Prospect Hill Cemetery. He was buried in the pauper section and did not receive a stone for his grave.
