Passes Suddenly In Salt Lake Hospital from Attack of Pneumonia
Simple, but impressive funeral services were conducted at the South Ward chapel Saturday afternoon of last week for Joseph Waldon Davis, who died suddenly in a Salt Lake hospital Wednesday of last week from complications as a result of pneumonia. The body was brought here Friday by the Warncr Mortuary of Richfield.
Musical numbers included a selection by the choir; a vocal duet by Myrtle Lynn and Belle Cooper, and singing of "The Lord's Prayer" by a group of ladies.
Speakers were Calvin Miller, S. A. Worthen and Bishop Rudolph Church. The invocation was offered by Hans P. Ipson and the benediction was pronounced by J. Frank Houston.
Following the services at the chapel the remains were taken to the Panguitch City cemetery for burial. Ralph DeLong dedicated the grave.
Joseph Davis was born in Juarez, Old Mexico, July 23, 1904, a son of Lyziania Craig and Hyrum Davis. He came to Panguitch with the family when a small child and made his home here until about two years ago, when he moved to Tooele.
He married Marie Heywood May 11, 1922, in Panguitch.
He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mary Zane Davis and a step-son, DeWitt Davis. His father and step-mother and four brothers, Afton, Lyman and Lynn Davis of Tooele and Ashley Davis of San Diego, California, also survive.
