Mary Lee Ross, 65 of 3042 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City died Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. There will be a time for family and friends to gather on Saturday, August 23, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Mary was born September 2, 1942, in Washington County, Iowa the daughter of Lynn and Ednabell (Simpson) Butterbaugh. She married Earl Lloyd Ross on May 2, 1964, in Kahoka, MO. For over twenty seven years she was employed by the University of Iowa retiring as a facility coordinator in 2002. She and Earl were members of the North Liberty Saddle Club, and Iowa City Ocean Waves Square Dancing club. Her family includes her husband, Earl; son, Melvin L. Ross of Chandler, AZ; daughter, Michelle R. Wall of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Tabatha L. Powers of Cedar Rapids, and Spencer Ross of Chandler, AZ; brother, David Butterbaugh of Kalona; sisters-in-law, Barbara Butterbaugh of Iowa City, Julie Briggs (Gene) of Keokuk, and Marge Glick of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Bill Ross (Kris) of North Liberty; half brother and sister, Guy Orr of Florida, and Marge Gorsuch of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Marys family and her services.
