Leonard A. Marek August 9, 1937 - December 16, 2005 Leonard Marek, age 68, passed away due to cancer on December 16, 2005. He was born to Paul and Edna Marek in Wellman, Iowa where he spent his childhood. Leonard served in the Army for 4 years and was in Hawaii and Germany from 1954-1957. Leonard was a long time Grand Junction resident, and worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Canyon View Vineyard Church. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge for 37 years, and the Sweethearts of Illinois for 32 years. Leonard married Mable Cox in 1979 in Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed driving truck and seeing different states. He spent the last year enjoying his grandkids, Brock and Morgan. Survivors include his wife, Mable; sons: Billy Marek of MO; Wally Marek and Guy Marek of IA; Jeffrey Cox of IL; Don, Doug, and Kenny Justis all of IL; daughters Loretta Cox of MO; and June Justis of MO; three brothers; two sisters; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; one brother and five sisters. A memorial service will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Church on December 20 at 7:00 pm with Robert Clifford officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loretta Cox Foundation, 410 1/2 Bristol Court, Grand Junction, CO 81504.
