Mabel and her brother decided they would make the United States their permanent home. On December 14, 1929 they departed Liverpool and arrived at New York on Dec 22, 1929 and travelled to her sister at Oriskany Falls.
By 1934 Mabel realized she missed Nuneaton, England and she arrived back in Liverpool February 27, 1934.

Mabel died in hospital at age 74. A Service was held at Nuneaton Parish Church and she was cremated at Nuneaton Crematorium.
