He was born July 12, 1938 in Harrisville, Pennsylvania to Paul and Harriett Hartzell Duffy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Sandra Newstrom; daughter, Lori (Dave) Martin of Fontana; son, Rick (Christy) Duffy of Fontana; two granddaughters, Jessica (Maverick) Velasco of Round Rock, Texas and Erica (Jeff) Arno of Tustin; two grandsons, Jason Martin of Fontana, and Joshua (Nyscelle) Duffy of Hillsboro, Oregon; great granddaughter Madelyn Velasco of Round Rock, Texas; sister JoAn Hernandez of Texas; brother John Duffy of Hemet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by her sister, Judy McLinn.
Richard moved to Fontana in 1951. He worked for Kaiser Steel for 27 years until retirement in 1983. Later he worked at True Value in Fontana. In 1996, he moved to Hesperia. He enjoyed working on cars, camping, driving dune buggies, boating, fishing, doing word searches, cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers, and FaceTiming with his great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. and memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Fontana Mortuary, 8030 Mango Avenue, Fontana. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Park, Bloomington.
