Cecil G. Allison, 61

Greene Township, Pa. - Cecil G. Allison, 61, a lifetime resident of Greene Township, died Monday June 26, 2000. He was born in Rochester April 16, 1939, a son of the late William C. and Mary E. Glenn Allison. He was a member of the Mill Creek United Presbyterian Church of Hookstown. He was employed by Western Beaver Schools 37 years before retirement in 1999. He was a partner in the Reese Jewelry Store where he was a jeweler. In 1969, he became the fifth generation to won the family farm on his mother's side. He was a member of the South Side School Board and a supervisor of Greene Township. He also was a member of the East Liverpool Elks Club and was a officer of the PSEA several years. He graduated from Tarkio College in 1962. He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra Lee Hayes Allison, at home; a daughter and son - in - law, Lori and Larry Smith of Georgetown; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Michael and Sharon Allison of Monaca and Jeffrey Scott Allison, at home, and his fiancee, Deanne McKinnery of Chester; three grandchildren, Cassie Smith, Marshall Allison and Landen Allison; three brothers and sisters - in - laws, Dale and Marcia Allison of Aliquippa, Ron and Laurie Allison of Lompoc, Calif., and Tom and Debbie Allison of Hookstown; two sisters, Jean and Tom Danley of East Liverpool and Kathy McNary of Chester and her fiancee, Bill Brauer. The Rev. Carl D. Smith of the Newell First Church of the Nazarene will conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Welch Funeral Home in Hookstown. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the ALS Society, 1323 Forbes Ave., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219.

South Side H.S. announces inaugural hall of fame class

Hookstown - The South Side Area School District is proud to announce the inaugural class for the district's new Hall of Fame. The are Cecil G. Allison, Charles D. Bailey, Robert and Esther Butler, Lieutenant Colonel Harold A. Garren, Quentin J. Schmidt Jr., and Lieutenant Colonel David G. Stamos............

Cecil G. Allison

Allison graduated from South Side Area School District in 1958. He was captain of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. In 1962, Allison received a degree in Physical Education from Tarkio College. At Tarkio, he was a letterman in football four years and captain during his senior year. He was also president of the senior class. The late Mr. Allison taught for 37 years in the Western Beaver School District where he also coached track and basketball. He served on the South Side Area School District Board of Education in 1967 and also served as a Green Township Supervisor. He was well known throughout the area as an active, involved community member.
