Jane Minerva Reed was the daughter of Solomon Reed and Susannah Hollingsworth. She married Daniel David Cutbirth in 1854 and together they had four daughters and one son. When the Civil War was beginning in 1862 he took his young family to Hunt, Texas to reside with Ferdinand Etier and then enlisted in the 1st Battalion of the Texas Sharpshooters. He was wounded in action and became a Confederate prisoner of war. Due to his injuries he was transferred to a hospital in Mobile Alabama, where he died October 10, 1963. His widow, Jane Minerva, married William Ferdinand Etier in 1865. Together they had three children. She passed away at the age of 33 due to childbirth complications with son Henry.
