He was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Douglas County, the son of Jack E. and Bertha (Lawson) McMillen. He was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. He worked for the Douglas County Road and Bridge Dept from 1941 until he retired in 1979. He was a member of Willow Springs Old German Baptist Brethren.
He married Lila P. Markley Aug.3, 1938, at Pleasant Grove. She survives of the home.
Funeral services for Dale E. McMillen, 91, Baldwin City, were Monday at Old German Baptist Brethren, Douglas County. Mr. McMillen died March 15, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Danny D. McMillen, Baldwin City, brother, Chester McMillen, Baldwin City, sister, Letha Myers, Hartselle, Ala., two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
