"Stella Ray [sic] Collins, 82, Kansas City in Clay County, died Oct. 21, 1987 at Independence Regional Health Center. She was born in Parthenon, Ark., and had lived in the Kansas City area for 50 years. Mrs. Collins was a seamstress. She was a member of Nashua Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband, Hubie Vernon Collins of the home; two sons, John Mantlo of Cowgill, Mo., and Bobby Mantlo of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Jessie Hunt of Dearborn in Platte County, and Jean Linder of Humansville, Mo.; a stepson, Ronnie L. Collins of Gainesville, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Vena G. Shaffer of Springfield; a brother, Ray Carlton of Grandview; a sister, Clydus Sutton of California; four half-brothers, Harold Carlton and Vernon J. Carlton of Tulsa, Okla., Russell Carlton of Lincoln, Ark., and Donald Carlton of Stilwell, Okla.; two half-sisters, Colleen Parker of Webbers Falls, Okla., and Mildred Farrell of Stilwell; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel; burial in East Slope Cemetery." The Kansas City Times, October 23, 1987
