Matilda R. Banta, 74, of Genoa, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1986 in La Crosse Lutheran Hospital.
She was born July 22, 1912, in South Dakota to Rudolph and Barbara (Thoeny) Ebersold. She married Joseph Banta. He died in 1958
She worked as a nurse and with her husband owned a root beer stand in Genoa.
She was a member of the Viroqua Order of the Eastern Star No. 35.
Survivors are two daughters, Barbara Sprain of La Crosse and Ruth Johnson of Rochester, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, a great grandchild and a brother Albert Ebersold of Miami, Florida.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and a grandchild.
The body will be cremated. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Dickinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
