LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Birdie Mae Johnston, 55 of Sheridan, died, Thursday, June 19, 1958, after a brief illness in the State Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was born September 7, 1902 in near Parkdale, Ashley County, Arkansas the daughter of late, Joel Matt Rogers and Willie E. Russell Rogers. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ellis Golden Johnston, of Sheridan; a son, Billy Thompson, of Tillar, Arkansas; two daughters, Mrs. Mable Dunnahoe of Tillar, Arkansas, and Mrs. Lille Belle Anderson of Houston, Texas; two step-brothers, George William Rogers, of Monroe, Louisiana and Herman Lee Rogers, of Los Angeles; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie E. Russell Rogers, a daughter, Lucille Anderson, and her grandparents, George Washington and Dora McCurdy Russell.
Services were Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home in Rison, Arkansas. Burial followed at the Smith-Morgan Cemetery in Kingsland, Arkansas.

Note: She was named after her father's sister, Bertie Rogers.

Special to the Gazette. Hamburg, Jan. 17.—Jeff Dorman and Miss Bertie Rogers, of near Jones, La., were married in the county clerk's office office here Thursday by Circuit Judge Turner Butler.

Mr. Jeff Dorman of Jones, Morehouse Parish and State of Louisiana, aged 40 years and Miss Bertie Rogers of Jones, Morehouse Parish and State of Louisiana, aged 19 years.
I, Turner Butler do hereby certify that on the 14 day of January A.D. 1918, I did, duly and according to law, as commanded in the foregoing license, solemnize the rites and publish the Banns of Matrimony between the parties therein named.
