John was the second son out of six children of Christopher C. Bolsinger & Minerva Isabelle Miller.
He married Elizabeth Lillian Gillian,daughter of John & Barbary (Kauffman) Gillian on Nov 3, 1842 in Fayette Co., PA.They had nine children. (See Elizabeth's link below for the names and dates of the children.)
John was a farmer and stock breeder. He came to Iowa on 18th of April 1846 from Fayette County, PA. He owned 200 plus acres on Section 12 and 13. His land was on a fine rolling ridge of timber, but with his hard work most of it was cultivated.
John & Elizabeth were members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He held several of the township offices with the satisfaction of the Mallory Township citizens. He was a voting Democrat.
