York Twp. - Charlotte Mae Leight Sechrist, born September 4, 1938, went to her eternal home on Sunday afternoon, August 29, 2021, surrounded by her family. Just shy of her 83rd birthday, she was the daughter of Mary Emenheiser Leight Smeltzer and Albert Leight.

She was married to her high school sweetheart, Karl Sechrist, for 65 years. She was the love of his life. She graduated from William Penn Senior High School in 1956. They were rarely apart.

Charlotte is loved by her children, Bonnie Sechrist Stiles and Keith Sechrist and his wife Theresa; grandson, Wesley Stiles & his wife Sarah. She was so happy she had great-grandchildren Luke, Alice & Jack Stiles. They meant the world to her and brought her great joy and love.

Charlotte is also survived by her sister, Marian Hovis; brothers, John Leight (Alice), William Leight (Diane); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernie and Marilyn Dodson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She has joined her parents; sisters, Norma Leight, Gladys Leight Beal and husband Bill; brother, Donald Leight and wife Brenda and brothers-in-law, Arthur Hovis and Harold Sechrist Jr. and wife Nancy.

Charlotte worked for East Prospect Bank after high school, then worked for York Bank & Trust Company as a teller and later in branch administration until her retirement.

She spent most weekends with her husband building a home in Potter County. She was hands on with all the projects, enjoyed riding 4 wheeler's and watching the wildlife. They travelled there often. They also loved to travel with friends all over the US after her retirement.

There was no doubt she loved her family with all her heart. She was proud of her children and grandson and family, she carried their pictures with her to share with her friends. She was known by all as a kind, gentle soul, was loved by everyone and will be missed. The family is grateful that she is in God's hands and no longer suffering from Alzheimers.

We would like to thank our family and friends who were by our side during the past two years and Hospice & Community Care for their support over the past nine months. And special thanks to her caregivers Jenna and Joyce for the love and care given to Charlotte.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at Chapel Church, 3050 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion PA with a service beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Heiland View Cemetery next to the church.

The Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc. Dallastown is in charge of the arrangements.
