Melvin Jerry Mikeska, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019, in Rosenberg. He was born June 30, 1935 in Orchard to August and Erna Mikeska. Melvin was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg where he and his wife were in the choir for over 55 years. Melvin worked as a lineman for HL&P until his retirement and served his country during the Korean War in the US Army, 1st Armored Division, lead tank driver and made Sargent. He was stationed at Fort Polk Louisiana, Troup D, 12th Calvary, 1st Armored Division.

Survivors include 5 children, Mark Mikeska, Greg Mikeska and wife, Sherri, Brent Mikeska and wife, Linda, Terri Bumpers and husband, Jacky, Glenn Mikeska and wife, Melinda; 2 brothers, Gerald Mikeska and wife, Terri, Wilbur Mikeska; 12 grandchildren, Cody and Casey Mikeska, Arin and Ashlin Bumpers, Jennifer Campbell, Lauren Alessi, Tiffany Craig, Nathan, Micah, Gracie, Ellie and Gabe Mikeska; 4 great-grandchildren, McKenna Chauvin, Eason Campbell, Noah Patterson, and Samuel Alessi.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Delores Jean Mikeska.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December, 16, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at 1st Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg, with Pastor Rhonda Detenbeck presiding. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1-4 P.M. in the Stateroom at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to 1st Presbyterian Church General Fund, 1400 Radio Land, Rosenberg, Tx 77471.
