Josiah married Elizabeth Tatum circa 1798 in Lincoln County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Abner and Mary Curren Tatum. Her father's memorial is # 195872027. (Thank you Charlotte, member 47625664.)
After her death, Josiah married Jane Fuller 07 April 1845 in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Known children of Josiah Stovall & Elizabeth Tatum are: Archibald "Baldy" Stovall; William Tatum Stovall; Bannister Stovall; Penelope Stovall Wade & possibly others. Research is ongoing.

Given this was a Baptist family & his son Archibald's first wife Jane Brown is buried here, I believe other members of Josiah's family are also, including Josiah.

"Josiah Stovall, Jr., moved from Lincoln County, Georgia, to Giles County, Tennessee, with his family and in 1814 and 1817 he was Overseer of the Roads. He was on the Jury Panel in Giles County in 1815. He bought 420 acres of land in Giles County in March of 1818, which he sold the following December, at which time he was living in Cotaco
County, Alabama, a county which later became Morgan County. He was Overseer of the Roads for Morgan County in 1822; a Juror in 1824, and listed there in the Census of 1830. By 1834, he had removed to Lawrence County, Alabama, for in that year he and his wife, Elizabeth, sold some land to John Tatum, and his residence was given as Lawrence County. [Lawrence County, TN Deed Book 5, p. 17] He probably moved to Lawrence County between 1831 and 1834, where he continued to live until his death. In 1846, Lawrence County, Alabama, Journal Book L, pp. 421, 422, Josiah Stovall, Jr., transfers some land and slaves to his two sons, Archibald Stovall, and William Tatum Stovall, and his granddaughter, Eliza Ratliff, daughter of Archibald Stovall, in satisfaction of debts he owed them.
It appears from the records that all of the children of Josiah, Jr., were by his first wife, Elizabeth A. Tatum."

Rest in peace.
