Smokey was born may 23, 1952 in Miami, OK to Willis Leroy "Sonny" and Louise (Imbeau) Wood. He had lived in Peoria since 2010 moving from Miami, OK. He was a member of the Quapaw Tribe. He worked in the sanitation department for Tyson Foods.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Leroy "Sonny" Wood in 1996, his mother Louise Imbeau Wood Hilburn in 1986, his brothers Roger Wood in 2018, Jimmie Hilburn in 2016 and Leanord Hilburn in 1966 and several aunts and uncles.
Smokey is survived by 3 sons, Billie Conner of Indiana, Thomas McCarter and his wife April of Peoria, OK and Matthew "Oley" McCarter of Miami, OK, 3 daughters, Melissa Baker and her husband Jerry of Quapaw, OK, Mary "Uteoka" Munson and her husband Jesse of Wamego, KS and Crystal Wood of Peoria, OK, 2 brothers, Martin Wood of Miami, OK and Jimmy "Rex" Wood of Charlottetown, NC, 7 sisters, Belinda "Ann" Hess of Columbus, KS, Carolyn Wood Skinner of Sand Springs, OK, Patricia "Patty" Davis of Columbus, KS, Letha Hilburn Fuller of Cuba, MO, Lisa Deboard of Rogers, AR, Janet Eason of Flintridge, OK and Debbie Conaway of Pryor, OK, 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
