Funeral services will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Leseus Benoit, age 81, who passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:15 p.m. at his residence in Vatican.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Deacon Ken Arnaud of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church will officiate at the services.
Mr. Benoit was a native and lifelong resident of Vatican. He was employed with Carencro Builders in the lumberyard for 10 years. He was a private constructor for home construction. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro. Mr. Benoit was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gussie Credeur Benoit of Vatican; two sons, Jerry Benoit and wife, Antoinette "Dell", Terry Benoit and wife, Gisele, all of Carencro; four grandchildren, Jarrett Benoit and wife, Dana, Sean Benoit, Lindsey Benoit and Terrell Benoit; one great grandchild, Kylie Benoit; one half-brother, Levanis Benoit and wife, Theresa, of Lafayette; one half-sister, Joyce Credeur and husband, Lessin, of Lafayette; and one sister-in-law, Nell Rose Benoit of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Apolinaire Benoit and the former Edmonia Landry; one daughter, Cathy Benoit; one brother, Mayo Benoit; and one sister, Ernistine Hernandez.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Memorial contributions in the name of Leseus Benoit may be made to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion St., Lafayette LA 70501.
Pallbearers will be Jarrett Benoit, Terrell Benoit, Sean Benoit, Lessin Credeur, Rodney Mire and Levanis Benoit.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Darnell Roger his caregiver, and the staff at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home for their well organized and executed procedures and most especially to thank all the caregivers for being both caring and kind.
