SHEPPARD, Virgil C. of Temple. Age 72. Died 2/10/1973 (Sunday) in a Temple hospital after an illness of a year. Services held (Monday) in Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Bellwood Memorial Park. Rev. P.A. Sanford officiated.

BORN 11/29/1900 in Rockdale, son of the late Hilliard and Laura Sheppard. Graduated from Rockdale public schools. Graduated from Toby Business College in Waco and served in U.S. Army during WW-1. Married Miss Jennie Davis of Rosebud on 2/17/1923. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary "Saturday". Lived in Central Texas area for several years before moving to Temple in 1938. He worked for U.S. Post Office in Temple for 26 years, retiring in 1969. Member of First Assembly of God Church of Temple and National Asso. of Letter Carriers of America.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Mrs. Jennie D. Sheppard of Temple; 3 sons, Wm. (Bill) H. Sheppard of Temple, Charles M. Sheppard of Killeen, James D. Sheppard of Arlington; 2 daughters, Mrs. Charles H. (Gladys) Forrest of Hurst and Mrs. Gerald (Ellen Faye) Skidmore of Dallas; sister, Mrs. Minnie Burkhart of Salado; 2 brothers, Seth Sheppard of Rockdale and Lee Sheppard of Victoria; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
