Gertrude J. Carter, 81, of New Washington, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2021 at Mercy Health Hospital in Willard, OH.

She was born on January 1, 1940 in New Washington, OH. The daughter of the late Anthony and Rosalie Stockmaster. She had 6 siblings (4 brothers and 2 sisters). She was married to Jim McPherson who passed away on January 24, 1998, and later married Sam Carter who passed away on February 7, 2003.

She was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church of New Washington, OH and also worked as a seamstress during the 1960s-1980s at the C.E. White Company. Later she went on to obtain her G.E.D. and CNA. She finished her career working as an aid at Maplecrest Nursing Home. During and after this time she raised her children (Rosalie Punch, Joseph McPherson, Cynthia Anderson) and multiple generations of grandchildren that she absolutely cherished.

She is survived by her son, Joseph McPherson of Willard, OH: daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Kevin Anderson of Alcolu, SC; grandchildren, Robert Daines, Brock Bowman, Blake Bowman, Sierra Abee, Skylerr Ramsey, Brianna Punch, Chris Anderson, Rusty Anderson, Jody Parker, Cody Herring and Justin Herring; brothers Eugene Stockmaster, Charles Stockmaster, and Robert Stockmaster of New Washington, OH; and sister Marilyn Stahl of New Washington, OH.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by husbands, James McPherson and Samuel Carter, her brother Walter Stockmaster, her sister Rita Stricker, her daughter Rosalie Punch and grandchildren Jeremiah Michael Tuttle and Tyler William Anderson.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington, OH where the funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mike Diemer officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in New Washington.
