FInal Rites for Mrs. Bessie Spicer

Cisne Woman Died at Memorial Hospital Wednesday At The Age of 79

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Spicer, of Cisne, were held from the Cisne Methodist church Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Robert Treat officiating.

Interment was in Wesley Chapel cemetery near Johnsonville. DeSelms Funeral Home was in charge.

Died At Hospital

Mrs. Spicer died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since the first of the year.

She was born in Wayne county April 27th, 1885, the daughter of Rudolphus and Mary Taylor Gloeckner.

On September 6th, 1911, she was married to Lafayette Spicer, who preceded her in death November 16th, 1945. Her parents and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Early in life she was converted to Christ and united with the Wesley Chapel Methodist church near Johnsonville. Later she transferred her membership to the Johnsonville Methodist church, and still later, to the Cisne Methodist church, where she held membership at the time of her death.

The Survivors

Surviving are four sons, Kenneth [1913-1993], of Long Beach, Calif.; Holland [sic] and Voris Spicer, both of Joliet; and Howard Spicer, of Sims; one daughter, Lucille, wife of Lyle Cates, of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hargrave, of Fairfield; andw [sic] Mrs. Lucy Hufhines.
