Willie Bevins, 84, of Sidney, Ky., succumbs

Willie Bevins, 84, a member of pioneer families which settled in the area around Sidney, Ky and himself a well known resident of that community died at 11:30 o'clock last night at the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital He had suffered from a lingering illness.
Bevins was a retired farmer but in earlier years had also been employed by the Kentucky Highway Department. He was employed by the Pike Board of Education as a bus driver for seven or eight years.
His death followed by a month demise of a half-brother, B. H. Bevins, 85, a retired N & W Railway Co., employee of Williamson and Regular Baptist Church minister for 50 years. The brother died November 6.
Born May 24, 1889 in Mercer County, W. Va., Bevins was a son of the late Thomas J. Bevins, Sr. and Nancy Jane (Smith) Bevins. He was of the Baptist denomination.
Surviving are his wife, Sadie Smith Bevins; four sons, Irvin Bevins and Estil L. (Breezy) Bevins, both of Williamson, Ernest Bevins of Logan, and Tom Dick Bevins of Sidney; one brother, Thomas J. Bevins, Jr., of Somerset, O., 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky., after 6 p.m. today. Services will be held there at 7:30 tonight.
The body is to be removed from the funeral home to the Mt Pleasant Regular Baptist Church at Sidney at 6 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted from the church at 11 a.m. Saturday with burial to follow in the Smith cemetery at Sidney. The names of the officiating ministers and pallbearers will be announced later

Funeral services for Willie Bevins, 84, well-known resident of Sidney, Ky., who died Wednesday night in a Williamson hospital, will be conducted from the Mt. Pleasant Regular Baptist Church at Sidney at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Elders Grover Adkins, Lloyd Cisco and Ed May will officiate at the services and interment will follow in the Smith cemetery at Sidney under direction of Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry. Pallbearers will be grandsons of the deceased.
The body is to be removed from the funeral home to the Mt. Pleasant church at 5 p. m. today and will remain there for the funeral. A special service will be held at the church tonight.
