Obituary from The Times-News (Twin Falls, ID) - Wednesday, July 9, 2003:
Marjorie "Marge" Geneva DeMoss Prescott, beloved by all who knew her, left us after a lengthy illness on July 5, 2003.
She was born June 9, 1918, in Filer, Idaho, the fifth daughter of Edman and Emma DeMoss. She graduated from Filer High School in 1936. She met Thomas Prescott at Albion State Normal School, where they both graduated as schoolteachers in 1939. They were married December 25, 1939. Their first teaching assignment was in Dietrich, Idaho, where Marge taught first grade. Over the years she took other substitute teaching assignments in Jerome, Idaho, where Tom and Marge have lived since 1945.
A friend to all, Marge loved to reach out to people in all walks of life. She was very active in her faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in various capacities including ward and stake librarian, ward choir member and president, teacher of children in Primary and the church's Young Women's organization. She was a member of the singing group Melodians, which performed at many church and community events.
In 1996 Marge and Tom were chosen as Jerome's Citizens of the Year. Marge could always be found at Tom's side in his ranching, community and business activities. Some of the highlights of their serving together were during Tom's leadership roles in Rotary, The National Cattleman's Association, Jaycees, The National Charolais Association, The Idaho State Insurance Agents Association and numerous other involvements in the city of Jerome, Jerome County and the state of Idaho.
Marge is survived by her husband, Tom; their children, Patricia Chris Lyman, Gene Augusta Prescott, Roy Judy Prescott, Ed Linda Prescott and Connie Steve Kelly, as well as 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Wilbur Eunice DeMoss. She is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters. We will miss you Mom you brought a big smile and a ready, helping hand to all who knew and loved you.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Jerome Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 26 North Tiger Drive north of Jerome High School, Jerome, with Bishop Kent Lee officiating. Interment to follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
