Born in Franklin Co, Columbus OH.
Son of George T. and Rosella (Allen) Andrews, who had twelve children.
Twin to Audrey Clesson.
Married Elizabeth Cochran in 1855. They moved to Iowa where he edited the Belleview Herald in Belleview Iowa.
Their children:
-George - moved to Northwest, died there.
-Albert E "Gene" m: Ola Mount, six children.
-John Preston m: Mary, one daughter
-Lola - buried at Cove Creek
-Nellie - m: Tom Miller, buried at Cove Creek.
-Herbert Elmo - twin - m: Alma Sanders, one dau, died in California
-Blanche Elora - twin m: Neal Goodson d 1961 bur Parker-Gregg Cem, Cass Co
-Everett - moved to Northwest, died there.
-Infant son.
The family moved to Missouri and bought a farm in the Smoky Row school district in Bates Co. where Ruthven passed away. His wife, Elizabeth with her sister, Addie Drake, in Creighton, then moved to Kansas City, where she died of breast cancer in the early 1900s. She was brought back to be buried beside Ruthven in Cove Creek Cemetery.
