YORK Esther Naomi (Smeltzer) Brenneman, 93, died Friday, November 9, 2007, at Manor Care Dallastown. She was the wife of the late Alvin W. Brenneman, Sr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Tina Rockwell officiating. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. She was born June 28, 1914, in Bittersville, a daughter of the late William and Laura (Markley) Smeltzer. She had worked in local cigar factories and was a homemaker. Mrs. Brenneman had attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Red Lion and Grace United Methodist Church in Windsor. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and helping others. Mrs. Brenneman is survived by a son, Alvin W. Brenneman, Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Deltona, Fla.; five daughters, Ruth V. 'Sis' and husband, Jacob Paules of Jacobus, Norma M. and husband, John Brown of White Hall, Md., Nancy L. and husband, Dean Hilbert of Dover, Shirley A. and husband, Joel Brown of White Hall, and Lucille E. 'Lucy' Brenneman of York; 14 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura A. Olphin; a brother, Benjamin F. Smeltzer; and four sisters, Mary A. Smeltzer, Ruth M. Bortner, Viola M. Leiphart, and Barbara E. Knaub.
