Gwinnell R. Nickel, 87, died on October 28, 2020 at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson, KS. She was born April 25, 1933 in Doniphan, MO., the daughter of Noble A. and Pearl L. (Hunt) Bass. Gwinnell worked for Fort Worth Cattle Express for over 4 years and C&H Transportation for over 10 years. She later worked as a housekeeper in the Dallas, TX. area and later moved to Hutchinson and continued housekeeping until she retired. Gwinnell was great at sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed designing and making lamp shades and doing upholstery work. Gwinnell was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, Bill, Dusty, Bob, Dean and Hugh Bass; and sisters, Maxine Edwards and Judy Cummings. Survivors include her children, Janet Lee Smith of Texas, Deborah Ann Baughman of Hutchinson and Larry Wayne Smith of Texas; a brother, Jack Bass of Hutchinson; grandsons, Justin Bartak of North Dakota, Gary L. Argo of Missouri and Justin Wilcher of Texas, and one great grandson, Jordan Bartak of North Dakota. Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Reverend Charles Crumble officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be made to Mennonite Friendship Communities and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
